Pacific Coast > Pescadero Loop (San Gregorio, CA)
Meet at the San Gregorio General Store in San Gregorio, CA. We'll likely drive/park a short distance away from the store to start the ride.
We'll head south on the Pacific Coast Highway, stopping to take a short break at the Pigeon Point Lighthouse before continuing down the coast to have lunch at the Highway 1 Brewing Company near the intersection with Gazos Creek Road. After lunch, we'll head back north via Gazos Creek > Cloverdale > Stage roads, stopping for a short break in the village of Pescadero before finishing the ride up Stage Rd.
This is a fantastic route with a variety of scenery--expect cool ocean breezes, views of the surf, some riding in the shade of big trees, some grassy hills and chaparral and some mildly challenging climbs.
Distance: about 36 miles. We can easily add miles afterward if desired. We can also take a short detour into Butano State Park on the way back which is quite the visual treat and easy/quick to get to. Heck, if everyone agrees beforehand we can even extend the ride to Davenport...
Pace: ~15 mph when rolling in flat terrain, higher/lower on descents/climbs. Regroups if/as needed.
Note that linked route does not include a planned 3-mile trip (6 mile total) to the gate at the end of Gazos Creek Rd.
