SF-Sausalito-Tiburon-Paradise Loop ride
Looking to avoid inland heat and get in a scenic ride? Starting from the Embarcadero BART station in San Francisco, we'll ride along the Embarcadero and across the Golden Gate Bridge. From the Marin County side of the bridge, the route will take us down to historic Fort Baker and on through Sausalito to Tiburon. We'll stop for lunch/drinks/etc. at Woodland's Market (~mile 22.6). After lunch we'll continue on to the Paradise Drive loop and reconnect with the SF Bay Trail in Corte Madera, riding back through Sausalito and back over the bridge to our starting point.
Distance: ~50 miles. Shorter options may be available, see notes section
Pace: Will vary depending on slope. There are hills on this route, please check route profile. Riders should be able to maintain 15 mph in flat terrain for 30-60 minutes at a time.
1.) The actual route taken may vary slightly from the route posted. For example, we may choose to avoid the pedestrian path along the Embarcadero, instead riding on the street and/or bike lanes to avoid the afternoon crowd on the waterfront path. We won't be riding any road I haven't ridden before.
2.) The route will be a mix of street and bike paths. Not all streets have a dedicated bike lane and/or shoulder and riders should be experienced riding on roads shared with vehicular traffic.
3.) Rides shorter than 50 miles may be achieved by:
a.) meeting us at the Sports Basement parking lot on Mason St. (~mile 4.6) or in the parking area adajacent to the SF Bay Trail on Gate 6 1/2 Road in Sausalito near Mike's Bikes (mile 12.9)
b.) taking the ferry from Tiburon back to SF
c.) other options may be available too
