TARTAR 2018 - Fri 4/20 to Sun 4/22 - American River Parkway
Hello, Russell from the Bay Area here. Since 2012, there has been an annual weekend gathering of recumbent trike and bike riders on the American River Trail in April. The word has traditionally gone out on the recumbent rider message board bentrideronline.com in the Trikes discussion category. I’m sure some of you will already be aware of this gathering, hope to see you again.
For those who might be hearing about this event for the first time, I’d like to invite y’all to join in too. There’s been about 30-35 riders at recent gatherings and some people even come from other nearby states to attend. It would really be great if we could get good representation from the local recumbent rider population.
As might be expected on a ride like this with both trikes and bikes and mixed rider abilities, the rides naturally separate into groups of riders riding at the same pace, so everyone seems to get to ride in a group no matter whether they ride along the trail at 8 mph or flirt with the speed limit.

All the rides are starting at the Holiday Inn in Rancho Cordova. We take the Sunrise Bikeway to the Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail (aka American River Parkway), always first gathering for a group photo near the boat launch ramp a little past mile marker 20 and the old Fair Oaks Bridge. It takes us about 15 minutes to get to the launch ramp from the hotel. Local riders may prefer to meet us at the launch ramp area. It is perfectly OK to attend a ride one day but not the next.
Post-ride socializing at the hotel is another tradition. All are welcome. There is a shady outdoor area in the front corner of the hotel that is accessible without going through the hotel lobby.
Wanna go? Any questions?
