HP Velotechnik German Engineering

AlphaBENT is a Premium HP Velotechnik dealer stocking almost every model of HP Velotechnik made, including bikes and trikes.

Working out of their factory in Kriftel Germany, HP Velotechnik engineers some of the finest-handling recumbent trikes in the world.

There are few trikes as comfortable as the suspension Scorpion models put out by HP Velo, and the front suspension models incorporate such features as anti-sway-bars, and have the most plush rides in the industry.

On the other end of the spectrum, HPVelotechnik also puts out non-suspension versions of its trikes that fold up tightly and have incredibly tight turning radii.

HP Velotechnik recumbent trikes are characterized by:

  • superb handling at speed
  • plush suspension
  • and great low-speed turning.

HP Velo has been engineering fine machines for a long time, and their products show it. These fine designs have come from HP Velotechnik:

  • NoSquat rear suspension, designed to maximize comfort and minimize loss of efficiency
  • split knuckle kingposts maintaining integrated front wheel and axle while allowing convenience of easy wheel removal
  • advanced steering geometry (ASG) for stable high-speed handling mixed with agile low-speed
  • self-locking folding hinge on some models
  • inifinitely adjustable BodyLink hardshell seat

Thanks in part to these innovations, HP Velotechnik's plush full-suspension Scorpion FS-26 won the BROL Recumbent of the Year award for 2013.

recumbent trike

Gekko / Gekko FX

The Gekko is made for the casual riding or touring.

Gekko FX-26
Full-size touring trike packs down small

HP Velotechnik has brought the ride engineering of its popular Gekko model to full-form. The Gekko FX26 has the popular 20" (406 ETRTO) size tires on the front and comfortable, efficient 26" (559) rear wheel size.

Scorpion

The two wide spread front wheels and low center of gravity gives the Scorpion impressive stability and a unique look. Whether carrying a heavy load or taking corners at high speed, the Scorpion gives confidence with it's ability to hold onto the road.

Scorpion FS 20

The Scorpion FS 20 offers the smooth ride of a full suspension trike while preserving the turning performance that HP Velotechnik boasts in the Scorpion model lineup.

Scorpion FS 26
Plush, full-suspension comfort combined with an efficient 26" rear wheel. This trike was bentrideronline's Trike of the Year in its seminal 2013 year.
Scorpion FS 26 S-Pedelec / Enduro

Add an electric assist motor to the package of a Scorpion FS 26 and you get the S-Pedelec. Upgrade the components to be off-road ready and you get the Enduro.

It seems that there is no ride you can't do when you have these trikes at your disposal.

Scorpion FX

The Scorpion FX folds in a minute down to a package that fits into most hatchback cars. The wheels can be taken off in another minute so that it can fit into the trunk of a car.

recumbent bike

Grasshopper FX

The Grasshopper FX is one of the only folding recumbent bikes in the world. You can literally take it with you.

Its front and rear suspension give you a plush ride.

SpeedMachine

For racing speed with suspension comfort, look no further than the German-engineered SpeedMachine.

The design includes a rear suspension with No-Squat design to minimize pogo-effect suspension losses. With an air-shock, though, it would be easy to lock out the suspension for sprints.

Spirit

For an everyday rider getting around town, the Spirit is a convenient bike.

StreetMachine Gte
German-engineered full-suspension 20-26 compact recumbent bike.

[Disclaimer: This item was posted on April Fools Day, 2017. It is not to be taken seriously, though, perhaps, half-seriously. The rack and the trike are real and not Photoshopped. The trike is a Terratrike (perhaps an older Tour) and the rack is based on HP Velotechnik design.]

It's not every day that we have the opportunity to measure the weights of different systems. Usually, everything is so intertwined with everything else, that it's hard to pin down exact weight differences of comparable items and components.
